In game one, FSC sophomore catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) led off with a single and advanced to third on an Allison Dailey (Commack, N.Y.) double down the left field line. Junior first baseman Lori Michalowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) followed with a 2 RBI single through the right side to give the Rams a 2-0 lead.
In the second, Farmingdale State used an Anderson RBI single and a sacrifice fly from Michalowski
to increase the advantage to 4-0.
In the bottom of the third, Old Westbury scored twice to cut the deficit in half. The Rams added a run in the fifth and two in the seventh for the 7-2 game one victory.
Michalowski was 2-for-3 with a run scored and 3 RBI, while Anderson was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and a run batted in. Dailey and junior designated player Jenna Crawford (Farmingdale, N.Y.) each added two hits for Farmingdale State.
Freshman pitcher Jaxie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) threw a complete game allowing two runs on five hits.
Leading 1-0 in the second inning of game two, the Rams used an RBI single up the middle by Kerri Ossenfort (Farmingdale, N.Y.) to go on top, 2-0. In FSC's next at-bat, Anderson hit an infield single and Ossenfort scored on a throwing error.
With two outs in the top of the third, Michalowski singled and later scored on a Breanna Susa (Bay Shore, N.Y.) RBI double to left to increase the lead to 4-0.
In the bottom of the third, Old Westbury used RBI's from both Katie Rizzo (Garden City, N.Y.) and Samantha Scharff (Seaford, N.Y.) to close within two, 4-2.
Michalowski led off the top of the sixth inning with a home run to center field to bring the FSC advantage back to three.
With two on and two out in the bottom of the sixth, junior center fielder Gabriella Valdes (Flushing, N.Y.) hit an RBI single to center. Rizzo followed with a game-tying 2 RBI single to left center for the Panthers.
Senior third baseman Cara Camerada (East Rockaway, N.Y.) led off the top of the seventh with a single to left and advanced to second on an Ossenfort sac bunt. After Anderson was hit by a pitch, Dailey hit an RBI single to left field to regain the lead for Farmingdale State, 6-5.
Collard held Old Westbury scoreless in the bottom half of the seventh as the Rams recorded the 6-5 game two win.
Michalowski was 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI, while Anderson had two hits and a run scored in three at-bats. Collard (12-6) earned her second win of the afternoon after pitching a complete game.
The Panthers were led by Rizzo who was 3-for-4 with a game-high 3 RBI.
The softball team next will travel to St. Joseph's-LI for a Skyline doubleheader on Saturday, April 16th at noon.
