Game 1: Farmingdale State 7, Old Westbury 2
The Rams jumped ahead early with a two-run single by Lori Michalowski (2-for-3, 3 RBI, R) to score Megan Anderson (2-for-3, 2 R, RBI, BB) and Allison Dailey (2-for-4, R) for the game's initial runs.
Farmingdale State doubled its advantage in the second inning with Anderson's RBI single and a
sacrifice fly by Michalowski on Panther starter Amanda Fucci (3-5, 7 IP, 12 H, 7 R, BB, 4 K).
Krysta Flareau singled with one out to break up Rams' starter Jaxie Collard's (11-6, 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, BB, 2 K) no-hitter in the third inning. Brittany Chernoff scored two batters later on a ground out by Delana Murray and Gabriella Valdes followed with a RBI single that scored Flareau to make it a 4-2 game.
Jenna Crawford (2-for-3, RBI, R) tripled to lead off the Rams' fifth and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly by Megan Acton to push the lead to three.
Farmingdale State tacked on two sacrifice runs in the seventh to settle the scoring.
Game 2: Farmingdale State 6, Old Westbury 5
Farmingdale State once again scored early with a RBI single by Ana Vargas to push across Anderson (2-for-3, R) for the first-inning lead.
The Rams scored two runs in the second frame with RBI singles by Kerri Ossenfort and Anderson for the 3-0 advantage.
Old Westbury answered in the third with a pair of runs off Collard (12-6, 10 H, 5 R, 2 BB, K) to slice the deficit in half. Katie Rizzo (3-for-4, 3 RBI) ignited the scoring with a RBI single, followed by Valdes (2-for-4, 2 R, RBI) scoring on a fielder's choice.
The Panthers threatened but stranded a pair of runners on base in both the fourth and fifth frames.
Farmingdale State created separation in the sixth with a solo home run by Michalowski (2-for-4, 2 R, HR) off Fucci (3-6, 7 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 2 K) to make it a 5-2 game.
With runners in scoring position, Valdes delivered a RBI single to score Otilia Bernal in the sixth inning. Rizzo then tied the game with a two-run single to push Kristan Taylor and Valdes across home plate.
Cara Camerada scored the game-winning run for Farmingdale State on a RBI single by Allison Dailey to take a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the seventh.
Fucci nearly tied the game in the seventh by lifting a shot to the warning track in center field.
LEHMAN LIGHTNING UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action Tuesday (Apr. 12) for a non-conference doubleheader against the Lehman Lightning. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.
