Keuka Big Second Quarter Leads Men’s Lacrosse to Victory

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team scored eight goals in the second quarter on their way to a 15-7 North Eastern Athletic Conference win at Bryn Athyn College on Wednesday.

Keuka College improves to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. They will next be in action on Sunday, back on their home turf, as they host Cazenovia College at 1pm.

Matt Beebe led the Keuka offense with five goals and four assists against the Lions. Andrew Burns had a hat trick and Peter DiLaura and Tyler Skowronski each added a pair of goals. Patrick Giardino, Zach Dempsey, and Sam Cooper also added tallies. Kyle Andrake improved to 4-0 in goal this season, making six saves.

Keuka College held a decisive advantage at the faceoff spot with senior Jake Altman winning 22 of
26 faceoffs.

Bryn Athyn took the early lead on Wednesday. They scored a pair of goals in the opening five minutes of play. The Lions led 2-1 after the first quarter.

The Green and Gold found their offense in the second. Matt Beebe opened the scoring in the quarter off an assist by Skowronski. Beebe then returned the favor, setting up Tyler Skowronski for the goal, giving Keuka a 3-2 lead. Bryn Athyn tied the game up, but Keuka scored six goals in the final 5:06 on the quarter to give them a 9-3 lead at halftime.

The lead for Keuka grew in the third. Skowronski, Beebe, and Burns all scored for the Green and Gold. Keuka won all four faceoffs in the frame and Andrake stopped the only shot on net by Bryn Athyn that quarter. Keuka led 12-3 going into the final quarter.

The lead got pushed to 10 goals, but Bryn Athyn started a rally. They scored three straight goals, but Keuka had an answer. Peter DiLaura netted a pair to secure the win. The Lions added a goal in the final seconds, but Keuka defeated Bryn Athyn 15-7.
