Thomas, Team Canada Starts Olympic Qualifying Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Kansas – Former Orange Skylar Thomas was in the starting lineup for Team Canada when it faced Team USA in the first match of the CONCACAF Men's Soccer Olympic Qualifiers. The U.S. recorded a 3-1 victory in the first of three group matches played on Thursday, Oct. 1 in Kansas City, Kansas.

The United States leads the group with three points after the opening round, while Cuba and Panama are tied with one point each after playing to a 1-1 tie. The top two squads in the four-team group advance to the semifinal phase. Canada will take on Panama on Saturday and Cuba next Tuesday.

Thomas, a two-time Syracuse captain, started all 56 games in his collegiate career and totaled 17 points on eight goals and one assist. He was drafted in the first round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC.
