Morrisville, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team earned a road
victory as it took down Morrisville 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon. With the
win, the Lakers move to .500 (2-2) in the conference and 3-7 overall.
The Mustangs remain winless in SUNYAC play (0-4) and 2-11 on the year.
After allowing an early goal, sophomore Jordan Sheehy earned her first goal of the year, corralling a rebound from a Grace Rinaldi shot. Lisa O'Callaghan kept the offense moving as she scored at the 17:15 mark, executing a backhand off an Emily Lange pass. The Mustangs hung in there though and tied it up at two apiece before half time.
Oswego
turned up its play in the second half, notching four goals while
simoultanesly keeping Morrisville off the scoresheet. O'Callaghan picked
up her second goal just 2:19 into the half and then completed the
hat-trick 7:24 after that. Lange picked up her second point of the day
as she picked up her own rebound and found the back of the net. The
Lakers final tally came from freshman Lacey Woite, sealing up a 6-2 victory for Oswego.
The Lakers dominated offensively, including accumulating 19 shots in the second half.
Field hockey returns to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the team travels to Wells College to take on the Express.
