Hamilton College Women's rowing hangs on to Gilman Plate, Gilman Goblet

Hamilton College women's rowing defeated Union College in a pair of races on the Erie Canal in Rome, N.Y., on Sunday.

Hamilton kept the Gilman Plate in Clinton by defeating Union in the varsity eight and retained the Gilman Goblet with a victory against the Dutchwomen in the second varsity eight.

Herons compete in Head of the Genesee

The William Smith College rowing team competed in the Head of the Genesee today. However, due to conditions on the Genesee River, racing was moved to the Erie Canal.

The Heron varsity eight turned in the team's top performance finishing fifth out of 13 crews. Hannah Glenshaw, Katherine Hesler, Grace Hutton, Emily Smith, Jennifer Sullivan, Margaret Cameron, Maggie Santinelli, Alexandra Townsend, and Nicole Guardino turned in a time of 17:12.55. Division II Mercyhurst (16:03.91) took the women's collegiate eight title by more than half a second over Williams. RIT and Rochester were third and fourth, respectively.
