Mayor Madden: City Issuing RFP for Operation of Troy Downtown Marina

Mayor Patrick Madden today announced the City of Troy is seeking qualified vendors for operation of Troy Downtown Marina, part of the administration’s multi-year effort to revitalize Troy’s 7-miles of waterfront on the historic Hudson River.

Mayor Madden said, “We’re excited to move ahead with reopening the Troy Downtown Marina this year, an important part of our efforts to restore public access to Troy’s valuable waterfront. This important facility offers new amenities that will attract local residents and visitors from across the Capital Region and beyond to explore what Troy has to offer, and I’m looking forward to welcoming boaters back to our community this summer.”

The City’s marina was severely damaged

by Hurricane Irene back in 2011. The facility operated in a limited capacity until 2016 before closing to accommodate major repairs to the downtown seawall. Following completion of the Seawall Stabilization project, the new marina was completed in 2020. The marina boasts free public access, fuel sales and daytime & overnight docking for travelers looking for amenities and supervision during their stay.

The selected vendor will be responsible for managing all services associated with the Troy Downtown Marina, including but not limited to: daily operations, dockage, fueling, and on-site facilities, and payment transactions for services rendered.

Waterfront Revitalization

During the last five years, the City has completed several major waterfront revitalization projects that have transformed Troy’s downtown waterfront, including the Seawall Stabilization Project, the Troy Downtown Marina, Riverfront Park North extension, and the Ingalls Avenue Boat Launch.

The projects were funded through various state and federal grant programs, including U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), New York State Department of State (DOS), NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), and NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES).
