Fredonia State University Walk-off win completes sweep of Oneonta

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Junior infielder Liam Kelly (Buffalo, N.Y./Bishop Timon) had an RBI single to give Fredonia a 7-6 walk-off win over Oneonta in SUNYAC baseball Thursday afternoon.

Kelly's hit scored sophomore Joshua Crocetti (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton), who started the 10th-inning rally with a one-out single, his third hit of the game. He went to second on a wild pitch before Kelly brought him home. It was also Kelly's third hit of the game.

Junior right-hander Matt Wilhelm (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst) earned the win in relief. He pitched 1 2/3
scoreless innings and allowed one hit.

The win completed a three-game sweep Oneonta and put the Blue Devils back into the conference playoff picture. They are 5-7 in SUNYAC (12-14 overall), two games behind New Paltz for the fourth and final playoff berth..

Oneonta fell out of contention at 1-7 in conference and 3-20  overall.

Other top offensive players for Fredonia with senior Kyle Sherman (North Collins, N.Y./North Collins) and junior Michael Prentice (West Seneca, N.Y./St. Francis) with two hits each.

The Blue Devils spend a weekend away from SUNYAC competition with a doubleheader Saturday at Bethany (W. Va.) and a single game Sunday at Mount Aloysius in Cresson, Pa.  Following a home doubleheader April 20 vs. D'Youville, the Blue Devils return to conference play April 22 at Brockport.
