Right fielder finishes triple shy of cycle in loss
Bridgeport, Conn. – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Bridgeport Bluefish 7-3 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Bridgeport opened the scoring with four runs in the second off Ducks starter Bobby Blevins. Luis Rodriguez hit a two-run double before Ethan Chapman and Josh Prince followed with RBI doubles. The Bluefish added three more runs off Blevins in the seventh beginning with Josh Prince’s RBI single. A throwing error by Blevins would score another run, while John Alonso’s sacrifice fly made it 7-0 Bridgeport.

Long Island posted their first run in the eighth on Fehlandt Lentini’s solo homer to left field off Erik Draxton. Lentini plated two more in the ninth on a single to left against Chad Povich, but the Ducks could not complete the comeback.
Blevins (2-4) was saddled with the loss. The starter allowed nine runs on seven hits (two earned) in seven innings while walking none and striking out six. Jimmy Patterson (1-0) picked up the win for Bridgeport with two and one-thirds innings of relief in place of starter Brandon Bixler. Bixler surrendered three hits in four shutout innings with two strikeouts. Frank DeJiulio, Jr. threw a 1-2-3 eighth for the Ducks.
Lentini drove in all of Long Island’s runs on four hits with a run scored and a double. Mike Blanke and Dan Lyons each had a pair of hits as well.
