Warm Up With Depot Theatre’s Soup & A Play Reading

Friends and Neighbors Stay Cozy in Winter Weather
Westport, New York - Visit the Depot Theatre Gallery for the Depot Theatre’s annual wintertime “Soup and A Play Reading” on Sunday, January 27 featuring favorite local performers and homemade soup. Daniel Lillford, author of “The Cabbage Patch” (Depot Theatre 2011), delivers another mysterious tale - this time centered around a 19th century homestead in a remote fishing village on the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia. The widower Richard Trask has moved there with his young son, seeking a new start to life. What he finds is that the past remains present and can be a very an unwilling partner in letting go. But Richard’s personal ghosts aren’t the only ones that move through the house. Young Tom finds Polly, a shadow of a woman whose eyes are eternally sea-ward as she paces the widow’s walk and whispers in a tongue from decades past. Soup and mingling begins at 6PM, with the reading beginning at 6:30PM, followed by a group discussion. Artistic Director, Shami McCormick says, “We are so glad to bring another marvelous play from Daniel (Lillford) to our smart Depot audience.”

Other upcoming events at the Depot Theatre include “Bingo for the Depot” on Saturday, February 16 and new shows in the Depot Theatre Gallery. Early bird subscription prices are available for the 2013 season until February 1.
