Lakers Open Up Spring Season with Shutout Win

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team started its spring season with a 9-0 victory over Keystone College at Romney Indoor Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Oswego remains undefeated at 4-0 on the year, while the Giants go to 0-1.

The Lakers wasted no time, collecting all three possible points in doubles. Sam McGrath and Brian Emigholz (first), John Matros and John Stanford (second) and Jimmy Terzian and Justin Scuderi (third) all defeated their Keystone counterparts without giving up a single game.

Momentum from doubles rolled right into singles as Nick Retzkin (fourth), Tyler Buxbaum (sixth) and Emigholz (third) each shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0. At second singles, Ryan Korn only gave up one game, winning 6-1, 6-0.

At fourth, Brian Manciocchi swept Keystone's Jordan Joyce in the first set, but had to grind out the second set eventually taking it 6-3. McGrath also found himself in a battle at first singles, taking it by a score of 6-3. The freshman cleaned up his act during the second set, securing a 6-1 victory.

Men's tennis will be back in action at 4:40 p.m. on Sunday as the team hosts D'Youville College inside Romney Field House.
