ALFRED, New York – The Oswego State women's soccer team blanked Alfred
University Tuesday night, winning 4-0 on the road. With the win, the
Lakers move to 5-4-0, while the Saxons fall to 1-8-1.
Oswego nabbed three of its four goals in the first half, beginning with a strike from Bailey Waterbury at the 10:51. Emma Geyer sent a pass right in front of the goal mouth, where the senior easily buried it. The Lakers next goal came from Allison Dwyer as she took a free kick that knocked the inside of the far post and went in. With 2:21 left in the half, Sarah Grupp recorded the third goal, as she sent a cross into the box that deflected off a defender and found the back of the net.
The final goal for Oswego came with 6:25 left in regulation as Nicole Perniciaro flicked a bouncing ball over the Saxons keepers head. Geyer was credited with her second assist of the game on the goal.
Defense played a key role in the matchup with the Lakers not allowing a single shot on goal and only three shots in total.
Women's soccer will return home for its next bout, hosting Potsdam at 3 p.m. on Friday.
