Chamber Breakfast Featuring Candidates For Dutchess County Executive

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s October Contact Breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16 at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel, will include a forum between the candidates for Dutchess County Executive, incumbent Marcus Molinaro and challenger Joseph Ruggiero. This event is sponsored by Hudson Valley Credit Union.

The candidates will each have an opportunity speak about where they stand on pertinent business and economic issues and answer questions. Questions can be submitted for consideration by emailing richk@dcrcoc.org by October 15.

Chamber members and guests must pre-register. The cost to attend the breakfast is $25 for members, and non-members can attend for $35. To RSVP, call (845) 454-1700, ext. 1000 or visit dcrcoc.org.

Molinaro was elected as Dutchess County’s 7th County Executive in November 2011. Prior to his election to County Executive, he served as the Assemblyman for the 103rd District since 2006. Molinaro served as a County Legislator, mayor, and village trustee for the village of Tivoli.

Ruggiero served four terms as a Wappinger Town Councilman and three terms as Town Supervisor of Wappinger. In 2008, he was appointed as an Assistant Comptroller for the State of New York, and in 2010, Ruggiero was appointed as Executive Director of the New York State Bridge Authority.

The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce and its Legislative Action Committee are devoted to advocating for local businesses and providing them with access to our elected officials. By having candidate forums at our Contact Breakfasts, we provide our local business community the opportunity to hear candidates for elected office discuss issues related to the economy, and to participate by having their questions heard and answered in a non–partisan setting. This way, our members can make informed choices at the polls.

The breakfast is sponsored by Hudson Valley Credit Union. Just this month, the credit union officially became a New York State Chartered Credit Union. In addition to the slight name change, this means more of their New York neighbors will be able to take advantage of the full range of personal and business saving and loan products, financial planning and insurance services they offer to help make your financial life a success. Accounts continue to be federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration, but now Hudson Valley Credit Union can serve those who live or work in Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rennselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster and Westchester counties. Visit hvcu.org for more details or speak with any of their reps who are here with us today.

The Chamber's Ambassador committee has partnered with the Chamber’s Workforce Development Center to collect canned and dry goods at each Contact Breakfast. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

Founded in 1907, the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce is committed to the growth and development of local businesses and the economy. For more information about Chamber happenings, the complete events calendar, or to find out how we might best serve as an advocate for you and your business, please visit dcrcoc.org.
