The Mustangs, who wrapped up their sixth double-header in eight days, fall to 6-18 to date on the season, 2-10 in conference play. They return to the field tomorrow to play a twinbill against non-conference Elmira College.
Morrisville State allowed six runs in the second inning of the first game, and battled back to within
two runs in the third, but failed to get any closer as Cobleskill collected the 9-7 conference victory. Bailey Dillabough (Massena, N.Y.) initiated a Mustang rally in the top of the third with a two run homer before a single by Paula Conklin (Sparrowbush, N.Y.) drove in Brianna Martin (Apopka, Fla.) who reached on a double. Morrisville State's efforts were cut short as the Cobleskill defense got under the ball and posted the flyout to end the inning.
Amanda Labe (Friedensburg, Pa.) and Conklin each went 2-for-3 on the day from the plate to lead the Mustang efforts, both each adding a run and an RBI on the day.
Brittany Keator (Roxbury, N.Y.) registered the loss on the mound for Morrisville State, pitching the opening inning before being relieved by Allison McGuire (Gilboa, N.Y.) who finished out the contest. Keator allowed two earned runs on four hits, and posted a strikeout, while McGuire threw the final 5.0 innings and allowed three earned runs on three hits, striking out two.
In the nightcap, both teams battled to a nine run tie after seven innings and in the extra frame, Morrisville State took the 11-9 lead as Holly Gamlen (Cazenovia, N.Y.) reached on a fielders choice to score lead runner Labe. Gamlen also added a run to the Mustangs tallies.
In the bottom of the eighth, Cobleskill's Crisci hit a double to score the lead runner for the Fighting Tigers, before Massi stepped to the plate and sent the ball over the fence for a two-run homer, and Cobleskill victory.
Dillabough once again had the bat for the Mustangs, going 3-for-5 from the plate in game two, while adding two runs and two RBI's to her tallies on the day.
Erika Kenney (Duanesburg, N.Y.) started the contest for the Mustangs on the mound, throwing the opening four innings of the contest, with six earned runs on 10 hits charged against her before being replaced by McGuire for the final three.
McGuire recorded the loss, allowing six hits and three earned runs in 16 batters faced.
