Keuka College Softball Splits at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Keuka College Softball team won the opening game 3-0 but dropped the nightcap 7-4 to Penn College on Wednesday afternoon.

Keuka College (11-7, 9-1 NEAC) will remain on the road on Friday as they travel to SUNY Poly to face the Wildcats in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader.

Game 1
Keuka College got on the board in the third inning against the Wildcats. Tally McDonald took a ball
of her knee to get on base. She then moved to second on a passed ball and scored on an error for the 1-0 advantage.

The Green and Gold doubled their lead an inning later. Allyson Muller led the inning off with a single to left field. Katelyn Warren walked and the two moved up to second and third on a double steal. Muller scored on a sacrifice fly by Mickenzie Palmer to make it 2-0.

Penn College got their leadoff batter on in the bottom of the frame, but Keuka turned a double play to end the inning.

Samantha Blum led the top of the sixth off with an infield single. She moved to second on a groundout and scored on a single by Kate Warren.

Starting pitcher Liz Warren made the 3-0 lead hold. She pitched a complete game shutout for Keuka to earn the victory.

Game 2
Keuka got out to a fast lead in Game 2. Penn walked the bases loaded and with two outs, Alysha Bachman singled to center to score two runs. After another single re-loaded the bases, Nicole Wright was hit by the pitch to force in a run, giving Keuka a 3-0 lead.

Penn got a run back in the bottom of the frame to narrow the margin to two runs. The Wildcats took the lead in the fifth and added three insurance runs in the sixth. Penn College led 7-3 going into the seventh and final inning. Keuka College push one run across but was never able to bring the tying run to the plate as they fell to Penn College 7-4.
