STONY BROOK, N.Y.
– The UAlbany women’s soccer team will look to finish up its road swing
with a victory on Thursday night on Long Island, taking on SUNY rival
Stony Brook on October 8th at 7 p.m. at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
The game will be streamed online for free at AmericaEast.tv.
UAlbany
has won three out of the last four games against Stony Brook but trails
in the overall series 12-5 to the Seawolves. The two met last season
at Bob Ford Field, with the Great Danes scoring two goals in a span of
seven minutes and holding off Stony Brook for a 2-1 victory.
UAlbany
is playing its third of four conference games on the road on Thursday,
coming off a 1-0 defeat at New Hampshire on Sunday to snap a three-game
unbeaten streak. The Great Danes enter this game at 6-6-1 overall and
1-1-1 in the America East. Stony Brook will have its conference home
opener on Thursday after playing its first two league games, each
losses, on the road, the last a 1-0 defeat at Hartford last week, going
into this contest at 3-7-2 overall and 0-2-0 in the America East.
UAlbany is currently the second-highest goal-scoring team in the America East with 21. Vivian Vega is tied for second in the league with six goals while Alexa Schneider is tied for fifth with five. Schneider also has a team-high four assists, tied with UAlbany’s all-time leader in assists Krista Fitzpatrick, who has four this year to total 11 in her career.
Alana Brennan,
UAlbany’s primary goalkeeper the past four years, is closing in on
almost every program record. She is already the program’s all-time wins
leader with 20 and saves leader with 321, plus leads with a 1.67 goals
allow average. She needs one shutout to set the new record at UAlbany,
currently standing with 9.5.
Almost
half of Stony Brook’s goals and points have been earned by one player:
redshirt junior Raven Edwards stands with five goals, including three on
penalty kicks, and two assists for 12 points, while sophomore middle
Manuela Corcho has two goals. The Seawolves have split between Emily
Doherty and Cara Gallagher in goal.
