No. 6 Field Hockey Takes Nation-Best Road Winning Streak to Maine and Yale this Weekend

ALBANY, N.Y.- With a 12-game road winning streak on the line, No. 6 University at Albany (9-1, 2-0 AE) visits Maine (10-2, 1-0 AE) and Yale (2-7, 0-2 Ivy) this weekend. The Danes face the Black Bears on Friday at 3:00pm, followed by the Bulldogs on Sunday at 1:00pm.

This week, Phil Sykes’s squad maintained the No. 6 spot in the NFHCA National Poll. UAlbany started the America East slate 2-0 for the third consecutive year. The Danes downed Vermont 3-1 last Friday and UNH 4-1 last Sunday, extending their winning streak to five games.

Through 10 games, Paula Heuser leads the team with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points. 

Sophomore Anna Bottino has 15 points on five goals and five assists thus far in 2015.

The freshmen have emerged as an important facet of UAlbany’s offense in recent games. After sitting out the first five contests, Frederike Helmke has scored twice. Camryn Dias tallied her first career goal last weekend against UNH, and midfielder Megan Ma has recorded two assists on the season.
