ABINGTON, Pa. – Visiting Morrisville State College
men's soccer played to a one goal draw with host Penn State Abington
Sunday afternoon, netting a late game score for the tie.
The draw lands Morrisville State with a 7-2-2 overall record, 6-0-1 within North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.
Penn St. Abington maintained the 1-0 lead for more than 45 minutes of the contest before Morrisville
State's Joe Sheehan
(Liverpool, N.Y.) capitalized on a whistled hand ball within the box,
putting away the penalty kick to tie the contest at one in the 84th minute of play, and force the overtime period.
The Mustangs posted what would have been the game winner in the first
overtime period, but were called off sides - disallowing the goal and
forcing the visitors to settle for the tie.
Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) registered four saves in the draw.
Morrisville State returns to the field Wednesday, traveling to Wells
College for a rescheduled contest from the end of September.
