PHILADELPHIA – The Syracuse University men's rowing
team opened its autumn campaign on Saturday at the Navy Day Regatta on
the Schuylkill River. Syracuse's top boat placed third in the men's
collegiate eight competition.
"We thought both of our crews had decent first races," head coach Dave Reischman
stated. "Both identified some positives and some things they would like
to do better. What our coaching staff wants to see how much these guys
improve race-to-race. We are excited to see how much progress we can
make by our next race in Princeton."
Syracuse sent out two boats
in its first race of its fall season, both competing in the men's
collegiate eight race. The "A" boat covered the 2.5 mile course in
12:14.63, less than five seconds behind first-place Navy. Drexel beat
out the Orange for second place, coming in .57 seconds ahead of SU's top
crew.
The "B" boat finished in 10th place on the day, recording a time of 12:52.07.
The
Syracuse men's rowing team will return to the water on Saturday, Nov. 1
at the Princeton Chase. Syracuse will then complete its autumn campaign
