Mavs fall (2-1) to Behrend in AMCC Game of the Week

BUFFALO, NY – The Medaille College Men's Soccer Team squared off this afternoon with Penn State Behrend  in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Game of the Week.

Medaille entered the game with a (9-3-1 overall, 3-0-1 AMCC) record. Penn State Behrend entered the contest with a (11-1-1 overall, 5-0-0 AMCC) record.

Medaille outshot the Lions (10-6) in the game, but the defending AMCC Champion Lions prevailed with a late goal that put them ahead (2-1).

Both teams had scoring opportunities in the early minutes.  Behrend's Anthony Crivelli had an open
shot on net that was turned away by Medaille GK Nick Augustyn (Elma, NY, Iroquois) in the 3'.

Jackson Hamilton scored his fourth goal of the season.
Medaille had an opportunity in the 7' when Nick DuMond (Lockport, NY, Starpoint) connected on a crossing pass but Behrend GK Colton Smith was able to make a great save to keep the score knotted.
Behrend found the back of the net in the 8' when Kyle Beckett connected on a pass from Sean Gallagher for his first goal of the season.

Medaille's Jackson Hamilton (Kent, NY, Charles D'Amico) scored on an assist from Yggor Zignago (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Veiga de almeida) in the 13' to knot the game up (1-1).

Cory Carter (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, St. Joseph Secondary) had a great chance in the 27' but pushed his shot wide right.

At the half the score was tied (1-1) with Medaille holding an advantage in shots (6-2) and shots on goal (5-2).
The Lions had the first chance to crack the tie in the second half in the 60' when Behrend's Nick Stewart received a cross and put a ot on goal but it was turned away by Augustyn.
Michael Jackson missed high in the 62' on a set piece following a Behrend foul.
Nick Stewart put the Lions on top for good in the 78' minute when he scored on a misplayed ball by Medaille GK Nick Augustyn for the unassisted game winner.
With the win, Behrend remains perfect in the AMCC at (6-0). Medaille drops to (3-1-1).
The Mavs will look to bounce back this Saturday when they travel to Cresson, PA for another AMCC til with Mt. Aloysius.
