Mavs and Lions play to (1-1) tie on cold, rainy afternoon

ALTOONA, PA - The Medaille College Men's Soccer team traveld to Altoona, PA this afternoon to play the Lions in a pivotal Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup at Spring Run Stadium.

The Lions entered the game with a with a (6-3 overall, 0-1 AMCC) record and Medaille came into the game with a (8-3 overall, 2-0 AMCC) record.

GK Nick Augustyn made five saves in his 
first action of the season.
Medaille scored in the first half and narrowly issed pulling out a big road victory, before the Lions were able to tie the game up in the waning minutes of the second half, sending the game into overtime.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the overtime period, resulting in a (1-1) tie.

Medaille got onto the board in the first half when senior Cory Carter (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, St. Joseph Secondary) scored on a crossing pass from Nick DuMond (Lockport, NY, Starpoint) in the 34'.

Penn State Altoona finally knotted the game up in the 87' when Luke Nelson scored on a pass from Seth Murrelle to send the game into overtime.

Altoona held a slight advantage in shots (13-11) and in shots on goal (6-5).

Medaille GK Nick Augustyn (Elma, NY, Iroquois) (0-0-1) made five saves for the Mavs in his first action of the season.

Medaille returns to action next Sunday when they host Franciscan University in another AMCC matchup.  The game will be played at All-High Stadium and is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
