Kellum named NEAC Offensive Player of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its weekly award winners, naming Morrisville State College sophomore forward Lauren Kellum (Eaton, N.Y.) the Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 4.

Kellum led Morrisville State to a huge win over Keuka College last Saturday, posting three goals in the 5-2 victory.

Her first two scores came within three minutes of each other and within the first six minutes of the
contest, as the initial strike came off the insert from a penalty corner opportunity. Her second tally was off a rebound at the 5:30 mark, with the second proving to be the game winner.

Kellum then posted the hat trick after again scoring on a penalty corner play at 29:20 to seal the win. She is currently ranked second in the NEAC in both goals (7) and points (17) for the Mustangs.

The sophomore is a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton High and is majoring in travel and tourism at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Mary Orth of Eaton.

Morrisville State's curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs.

In addition to being named to the 2014 President's Higher Community Education Service Honor Roll, the college was recognized by U.S. News and World Report as an institution in the top tier of the Best Regional Colleges list and ranked second among regional colleges nationwide for outperforming its anticipated graduation rate.
