Jason Emerich of football and Courtney Brosnan of women's soccer are this week's Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Emerich
is a sport management major with a minor in physical education and
coaching. The junior out of New Ringgold, Pa. has played in 19 contests
for the Orange, including the last two games serving as the starting
center. Emerich is the current president of the Syracuse University
chapter of Uplifting Athletes, an organization led by college football
players who work together to raise awareness and funding for rare
diseases. He was also named to the 2014 ACC Honor Roll.
Brosnan
is a sophomore biology major out of Short Hills, N.J. The goalkeeper was
named to the All-ACC Freshman Team this past season, after finishing
the season with a total of 68 saves and three shutouts. She has recorded
51 saves and two shutouts so far on the 2015 season.
Emerich and the football team travel to Tampa, Fla. this Saturday, Oct. 10, taking on USF. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
Brosnan
and the women's soccer team face two ACC opponents in a pair of road
games this week, first taking on Notre Dame on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7
p.m. in South Bend, Ind. They then head to Pittsburgh, Pa. on Sunday,
Oct. 11, facing Pitt at 1 p.m.
