From Texas comes an adorable, talented fifteen year old young lady by the name of Brec Bassinger. Brec is an actress who has been in TV shows such as 'The Goldbergs' as Zoe McIntosh and 'Haunted Hathaways' as Emma. Currently, Brec will star in the new Nickelodeon series 'Bella and the Bulldogs' as Bella. 'Bella and the Bulldogs' is currently filming with a premiere date sometime in 2015.
'Bella and the Bulldogs' follows a perky head cheerleader named Bella whose life in Texas takes an unexpected twist when she becomes the new quarterback for her school team, the Bulldogs.
This show according Brec has a lot of heart. We can't wait to see it. Recently, we had the honor to interview Brec on her acting career and if she has any other talents. Here is what Brec had to say to us.
When did you start acting?
I began taking acting lessons when I was 10. I started auditioning when I was 13 and everything else happened from there.
Was it your dream to be an actress?
It has always been a dream of mine to be an actress.
Are there challenges pursuing an acting career?
There are many challenges when pursuing an acting career. A lot of people will tell you you can’t do it. But once you succeed, it is so rewarding.
What was your first acting job, tell us about it?
My first acting job was a guest starring role on ‘The Goldbergs’. It was a great experience and the whole cast was so kind and helpful! I got to play a waitress, which is crazy because I was only 13 at the time!
You recently played Emma on the Nickelodeon series 'The Haunted Hathaways' tell us about that character?
My character, Emma, on ‘The Haunted Hathaways’ was one of Taylor Hathaway’s best friends from the gymnastic team. She was kind of ditzy, but had a good heart.
Were the cast members on 'The Haunted Hathaways' easy to work with?
The cast members on ‘The Haunted Hathaways’ were not only easy to work with but a lot of fun to work with as well! Everyone is so sweet and I love getting to work with them!
You're going to play Bella on the new Nickelodeon series 'Bella and The Bulldogs'. What can you tell us about your character Bella?
My character Bella on Nick’s new show Bella and the Bulldogs is the captain of her Texas school’s cheer team who ends up becoming the quarterback of the football team! She is a super optimistic girly-girl who loves to do the impossible.
Tell us what relationship you have with the other cast members? Are they easy to work with?
The other cast members are so talented and nice! We are so close and I am always excited to go to work because I’m getting to work with my best friends.
What do fans have to look forward to in your new show 'Bella and the Bulldogs'?
Fans can look forward to watching ‘Bella and the Bulldogs” because the show has a lot of heart. Yes there is humor, football, and cheer but I am definitely most excited for people to see the heart and emotions of the show.
What does the cast do to get ready for scenes?
To get ready for scenes the cast and some of the crew actually have a small dance party! We turn up music really loud and dance and jump around! It gets us pumped up and ready to focus on our scenes.
Besides 'Bella and the Bulldogs', are you working on any new projects?
At the moment, I am just working really hard on ‘Bella and the Bulldogs’ and can’t wait for everyone to see it!
Do you have any advice for those wanting to start a career in acting?
My advice for people who want to start a career in acting is to never give up! You will have a lot of people telling you “no”, but you have to wait for that one “yes”.
What do you hope your fans can take away from your acting?
I hope my fans can watch my acting and let it show them that anyone can do anything! I am just a regular girl and anyone can do it if they work hard enough!
It's hard to find free time while busy on projects. When you do have free time, how do you spend it?
When I have free time I like to hang out with my friends! We go bowling, mini-golfing, to the beach. As long as I am hanging out with friends, I’m having fun!
Do you have family and friends that supports your acting?
I have been so fortunate to have not only some of my friends and family support my acting, but almost ALL of my friends and family have been supportive through this crazy journey. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.
Who inspires you with your acting?
Sandra Bullock is one of my biggest acting inspirations!
What do you hope to accomplish with your acting?
I hope to be able to work as an actress for the rest of my life. I love acting so much and being able to continue acting would be an accomplishment for me.
Is it hard for you to remember your lines? How do you remember them?
I haven’t had too much trouble memorizing lines because on the set of ‘Bella and the Bulldogs’ we rehearse so much throughout the week the lines end up sticking in your head without you even realizing it!
Are you passionate about any charities, if so, why?
I am passionate about JDRF, which is the juvenile diabetes research foundation. I was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic when I was 8, so I am very passionate about the charity and its research.
Is education important to you?
Education is very important to me! I am actually graduating high school a year early and hope to transition to my college education quickly after graduating!
Do you have any other talents?
I use to compete in talent competitions as a ventriloquist. I was a regional champion in cup stacking, and can say the alphabet backwards!
