Little Shop of Horrors Sing-A-Long Fundraiser

Albany, New York - Little Shop of Horrors has more than a dozen musical numbers, many of which have become a part of popular music.  On Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7:pm you can Sing-A-Long with the cast as they do a full brush-up rehearsal – with the band - for the final weekend of the run.  This Pay-What-You-Will Fundraiser will help defray the cost of the show.  In addition to the licensing, the costs include a full set, and the construction of four Audrey II puppets that range in size from 8 inches to the final puppet which is five feet wide, four feet tall and capable of swallowing three different performers.  We even had to add a temporary addition onto the stage to house the puppets during the show.

The musical Little Shop of Horrors is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film – The Little Shop of Horrors -- about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh.  The music, composed by Alan Menken in the style of early 1960s rock ‘n roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes such as the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour."  You can even take the role of Audrey II and sing out with “Feed Me” and “Suppertime!”

Seymour, played by Jerred Hickey is surrounded by the Baby Janes (from L-R) Chiffon – Alexis Kittel, (Seymour) Shangri La – Amanda Kittel, a customer – Marissa Scotti, and Ronnette – Emily Fuller as they sing about the strange plant in Steamer No.10’s production of Little Shop of Horrors.  The Pay-What-You-Will Sing-A-Long Fundraiser is at Brush-Up rehearsal 7:pm on Thursday, August 21.  The final weekend of the Little Shop of Horrors run is Friday and Saturday Aug. 22 and 23 at 7:pm and  2:pm on Sunday, Aug. 24.
