USA Men Top Lithuania 21-13, Advance FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup Semifinals

Debrecen, Hungary (Aug. 28, 2021) – The USA 3x3 U18 Men’s World Cup Team (4-0) defeated Lithuania (3-2) 21-13 with 2:17 left on the clock in the quarterfinals of the 2021 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup on Saturday in Debrecen, Hungary.

The USA will play Belarus (4-1) in the semifinals at 6:05 a.m. (all times listed are EDT) on Aug. 29. The second semifinal will feature Estonia (3-1) – Egypt (5-0) at 6:30 a.m. All games are streamed live at FIBA’s 3x3 YouTube channel.

USA Women Capture Third-Straight Gold Medal at FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup

Debrecen, Hungary (Aug. 29, 2021) – The USA women (6-1) edged past Germany (4-2) 15-14 in the semifinals before claiming the 2021 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup gold medal with a 21-14 win over Spain (6-1) that concluded with 3:44 left on the clock on Sunday evening in Debrecen, Hungary.

Mikaylah Williams (Parkway H.S/Bossier City, La.) was named MVP of the tournament. She led the tournament in scoring and points per game (56 points, 8.0 ppg.). She was joined on the all-tournament team by Spain’s Elena Buenavida and host Hungary’s Zita Szabó.

Debrecen, Hungary (Aug. 29, 2021) – The USA 3x3 U18 Men’s World Cup Team (6-0) won its semifinal game in convincing fashion, 21-13, over Belarus (5-2) and its gold medal contest 21-14 in a similar style against Estonia (4-2) to win the 2021 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup on Sunday night in Debrecen, Hungary.

The Durango-born wins the first individual Elite Men’s Title of the 2021 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole, Italy.

 

On Thursday, Christopher Blevins (Durango, Colo.; Trinity Racing) earned his first World Champion title, winning the first-ever Elite Men’s Short Track Cross Country event at the 2021 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships held at the Val di Sole resort in Commezzadura, Italy. Combating a field of 38 competitors, Blevins rode an aggressive race, staying in the front ten riders the entire race. He took the lead in the last 100-meters, where he overtook Maximillian Brandl (GER) in the last corner before the finishing straight to set himself up to win the final sprint. Blevins positioned himself well, recognizing that the first rider through the last turn would win.

USTA Statement Regarding Proof of Vaccination to Enter the US Open

Today, the USTA was informed that the New York City Mayor’s office will be mandating proof of COVID-19 vaccination for entrance to Arthur Ashe Stadium during the US Open. Given the continuing evolution of the Delta variant and in keeping with our intention to put the health and safety of our fans first, the USTA will extend the Mayor’s requirement to all US Open ticket holders 12-years-old and older. Any US Open attendee with tickets to Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium, The Grandstand, or the grounds of the US Open, will be required to provide proof of at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to enter the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Aug. 24, 2021) - Eight U.S. athletes are headed to the second event of the 2021 International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating (JGP) Series this week in Courchevel, France. This is the second consecutive event hosted in Courchevel; the event was originally scheduled to take place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, but was relocated due to local quarantine regulations. Competition starts on Thursday, Aug. 26, with the women’s and men’s short programs. The rhythm dance and women’s free skate will take place on Friday, Aug. 27, and the event will conclude with the men’s free skate and free dance on Saturday, Aug. 28.

New York, NY - Dance/NYC and its program partner Gibney are pleased to announce the Disability. Dance. Artistry. Residency Program, made possible by the generous support of the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation. Dance/NYC will award residencies to up to ten (10) disabled dance artists and/or disability-led integrated dance companies. The purpose of the residency program is to expand opportunities for dancers with disabilities, including spinal cord injury (SCI) and other impairments, and to advance accessibility and equity for disabled dance artists within the larger dance, residency, and presenting communities.

FLUSHING, N.Y., August 19, 2021 – The USTA today announced that the cast of the Tony-nominated hit Broadway musical Moulin Rouge! The Musical, led by the show’s stars, Tony Award nominee Aaron Tveit and Natalie Mendoza, will headline the Opening Night Ceremony at the 2021 US Open. The performance will take place in Arthur Ashe Stadium prior to the evening session of play on Monday, August 30.
