The Tom Noble Team Race, scheduled to take place in Maryland was scratched due to a lack of wind the entire weekend. One complete round of team racing was not completed, leading to no scores at the event.
Maritime had a pair of teams submitted at the Old Dominion Open, Privateers 1 finished the weekend in eighth position with 201 points on the weekend, while Privateers 2 finished the weekend in 11th place with 241 points.
Privateers 1 featured two divisions with Division B featuring freshman Juan Lejarraga (New York,
N.Y./Montessori) and sophomore Timmy Montera (Bellmore, N.Y./Bellmore JFK) leading the charge with a weekend-best 58 points. The pair did not finish outside of the top-nine, while picking up a second place finish in their second race of the day on Saturday morning.
The Division A pair from the Privateers 1 team saw senior Jimmy Keegan (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) and freshman Maura King () pair up to combine for 143 points. Keegan and King had a best finish of ninth place in their eighth race of the 11 total through the two-day event.
The Privateers 2 Team had a solid 10th place run out of its Division A pairing of sophomore Andrew Hall (Poquoson, Va./Poquoson) and freshman Skye Miller (New York, N.Y./Clarkstown North). The pair got off to a quick start with a third place finish in their first official race of the season, but tailed off into the middle of the pack through the remainder of Saturday. On Sunday, the pair reached third place once again in the eighth race of the weekend.
In Division B, a pair of freshmen joined forces as rookie Olga Anna Papaeconomou (Darien, Conn./Darien) and James Broyles (Old Westbury, N.Y./Kellenberg) collected 124 points through their 11 appearances on the weekend. Papaeconomou and Broyles got off to a good start with a pair of top-nine finishes at ninth place and seventh place. The weekend was highlighted by a third place run in 10th race of the weekend on Sunday afternoon.
Lejerraga and Montera, along with Keegan and King finished with a weekend total of 201 points, good enough for eighth place. Hall, Miller, Papaeconomou and Broyles concluded the weekend with 272 points for 11th position.
In Maryland, Maritime was only able to get head-to-head team races in against Navy and University of Pennsylvania, and won both matchups. However, the Privateers were unable to get in head-to-head races against Cornell, St. Mary's (Md.), and host Washington College to complete the first round of team competition, leading to no official scoring at the event.
Taking to the water in the pair of races for the Privateers were sophomores Zach Hill (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and Andreas Adam (Annapolis, Md./Severna Park), while freshman Kyle Comerford (Annapolis, Md/Annapolis) teamed up with sophomore Caitlin Cummings (Shelter Island, N.Y./Ross). The third team saw senior Austin Buonsignore (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) team up with classmate Matt Romanuski (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca), before freshman John Lawless (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) took over with Romanuski.
Maritime will next take part in the John Jackson Team Race this coming weekend at Georgetown in Washington, D.C.
