Searching For Missing Jet Skier On Lake Ponchartrain

Coast Guard searches for missing jet skier on Lake Ponchartrain

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard is searching for one overdue jet skier on Lake Ponchartrain near New Orleans, Sunday.

Missing is Luis Carrillo, 29.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans were notified at 6:25 p.m., Saturday, by a good Samaritan who had spotted the overdue wearing a black wet suit drifting on a jet ski near the Highway 11 and Railroad bridges.

The original departure location was Slidell.

Searching are:

A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew;

A Coast Guard Station New Orleans response boatcrew;

Three St. Tammany Parrish Sheriff's Office boatcrews;

A friend of the overdue is also aiding the search on their own small boat.
